In the role as Global Head of Science Experts, you provide strategic, disciplinary, and operational leadership for the global Science Expert function, ensuring clear scientific direction, effective management of Science Subject Matter Experts, and strong alignment with organizational goals. You define the global scientific strategy for specialized pharmaceutical areas and establish long-term priorities and roadmaps that strengthen product robustness and regulatory compliance.

Strategic Scientific Leadership & Direction Setting
Define and drive the global scientific strategy for specialized pharmaceutical areas, ensuring long-term priorities and roadmaps that strengthen product robustness, compliance, and innovation.

Team Leadership & Organizational Management
Lead and develop the Science Expert organization with full disciplinary and functional responsibility, including resource allocation, budget planning, and acting as the central escalation point (SPOC).

Scientific Project Leadership & Innovation
Initiate, develop, and steer scientific projects while guiding Science Subject Matter Experts in the execution of complex topics and innovation-driven initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Ensure strong alignment within the Science function and across the organization, building sustainable relationships with internal and external partners to support scientific and business objectives.

External Interfaces & Outsourcing Oversight
Lead and manage outsourcing activities and act as primary interface to regulatory authorities, scientific institutions, and industry networks.

Risk Assessment & Scientific Decision-Making
Evaluate scientific risks in areas with uncertain data, assess medium-term impact, and ensure informed decision-making in line with strategic and regulatory requirements.

Organizational Complexity & Conflict Management
Manage a large, cross-functionally networked organization and resolve conflicts at organizational and political level while ensuring effective execution of priorities.

What sets you apart:

Academic Qualification & Scientific Background
Master’s degree in a pharmaceutical, scientific, or related discipline combined with more than 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D or Science leadership, ideally within MSAT.

Leadership & Organizational Experience
More than 10 years of proven experience leading large, cross-functionally networked teams across multiple hierarchical levels, including indirect management and complex conflict resolution.

Scientific Strategy & Innovation Expertise
Demonstrated ability to develop long-term scientific strategies and drive industry-level innovation within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

Analytical & Risk Assessment Capability
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex and uncertain data sets and translate them into strategic, medium-term decisions.

External Representation & Networking
Extensive national and international scientific network with experience representing organizations in external scientific forums and regulatory interactions.

Decision-Making & Independence
High degree of autonomy in decision-making with a proven ability to develop new concepts and adapt best practices independently in complex environments.
